Cheap Mesh WiFi Setup

My daughter (no pics) is in college and moving into her first apartment / townhouse. The townhouse is narrow and three stories. She gets a standard wifi router as part of her cable package, but I think a mesh system will be much better given the layout of the house.
Does anyone have experience with cheap mesh systems? I don't mind buying a used one off eBay. I have an expensive setup at home, but I'm not willing to shell out that much for her first apartment setup. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Best is 3pack deco x55 refurb on Amazon for $100. I got a set for $40 on marketplace. Set it to reset every Sunday morning and you’ll never have an issue with it.
All mesh systems under $500+ will likely have few antennas and work MUCH better when backhaul is wired but x55 should get 200+ Mbps throughout townhouse using wireless only.

X 2 on the refurb Deco. I did this 3 years ago for my daughters townhouse and it’s been great so far.
