Can't get Hue Bridge to connect to HomeKit

Got the starter kit as a christmas gift and I can't get the lights to work with Homekit/Siri.
On the philips hue app, it will give me a message that the bridge is already paired with Homekit, but it doesn't show up in my homekit app. If I ask Siri to do anything with the lights, she's tell me I haven't set up any accessories in HomeKit. When I try to pair it from the homekit app, it either gives me an error message saying the device is "Out of Compliance" or it will time out and say the device is not reachable.
Anyone had these issues or know of a fix. I'm on the latest software of all relevant devices.

I've done that a bunch of times. After unpairing it will say I can't pair through the hue app for whatever reason, and then when I come back a few mins later it will just say it's already paired. That's when I check homekit app and it's not there.

Have you tried this?
Settings > Privacy > HomeKit > Reset HomeKit Configuration... . After the reset, you have to use your camera to link your bridge again using the HomeKit id
Also, are your hue bridge and HomeKit on same network?

Yea I've done the reset from settings a couple of times.
They are both on my same network.

Do the hue lights work through the hue app?
If so,
Check that you're logged into iCloud
After you've confirmed that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are working as they should be, check that you're logged into iCloud and that Home is enabled for your account. Launch the Settings app, tap your iCloud profile (at the top of the screen), choose iCloud, and check that Home is toggled on.
If it still doesn’t work, time to contact Hue support
