Can you run a VPN if you're hard wired into the modem?

I have a Kodi box that I have hard-wired into the modem for faster connection. Can i still use a VPN or would I need to run Kodi with wifi?

Yes, IPVanish (for instance) works on pretty much every device I have whether it be on Lan line, wifi, or using phone data.

Yes.

A VPN occur over the internet. It doesn't matter where inside your network a device is, it must travel through your modem to get to the outside internet.

Perfect. So how does that work? I download IPvanish then when I run it from one device (say my computer) it integrates it into every device on that network?

I guess what I'm asking is, give me a step by step of how to run ipVanish through my hard wired Kodi Box. I understand how it works on wifi devices.

Once you install ipvanish, you have to run it from each device for it to activate and hide that IP, through whatever means it uses to get online for that device.

So if you install it on your computer your computer can hide as IP through wifi or landline.

If you install it on your phone then your phone will be allowed to hide your IP through your carrier or Wifi.

And if you install it on your Kodi box you will be able to hide your IP through your landline or Wifi.

That makes more sense. I thought ipvanish changed your system ip - not your device.

Yes you can flash firmware on to a router and then load what ever service you use on there.

Not all modems/routers are compatible and you could end up bricking them.
