Cable advice needed.

A buddy rebuilt a poolhouse and needs cable or a way of getting it to the building via wifi or whatever.
It's detached and never had cable before, does he have any options other than running a RG cable to it?
He's in NOLA with Cox. Any info would be appreciated, thx.

Quad shield RG6. Direct burial cable.

Yeah, slab from main house to PH, but thx. If it has to go it'll have to be overhead.

I would buy whatever length of Cat6 cable you would need to run from where your router is located inside the house extending to the pool house. Then run it inside the pool house and plug in to a WiFi range extender.
ETA: you could run it through some PVC and then bury the PVC in the ground once everything is set.

Had similar issue. I tried a couple of wifi boosters, but still signal sucked due to distance.
So I used a 1/4 PVC elbow to shield from the side of the house to ground level with a length of same down to slab (made sure my exit point from side of the house lined up with perpindicular slab joint) then I jimmied the wood strip from slab joint, tucked in the coax, and replaced the strip. Had to use a dab of silicone sealer and rout the strip height a tad to keep surface flush.
Buried the remaining coax length to the outbuilding.
Looks neat and tidy.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll have him ask Cox first and then run Cat5 and Rg through
a PVC pipe if we have too.

This is basically what I did. I ran the cable from my attic with the PVC tucked along the gutter downspout. But mine was a new build, so I was able to use the same trench that the electrician used to run my electrical.

Does he have good wifi out there?
HDHomerun Prime + Amazon Firetv and renting a cablecard could work if you're very anti running the line, as suggested before.
