It's not always about throughput, though...
No, but in this case it is indeed about throughput. The router is going to be the gatekeeper to all of his bandwidth. If it can't give him even remotely close to 1Gbps, then yes, it's about throughput.

I've installed them all -- from Linksys (before Cisco), to Linksys (during Cisco), to NetGear, TPLink, D-Link... And the only brand I have found to remain reliable in the home to small-business arena are the Apple products.
That sounds like a load of shite, Gringo. Is the Apple product going to have a high success rate among the average consumer? Sure. That's what Apple does best -- implementing an intuitive solution that reliably meets the needs of the majority.
But now you've made two errors. First, you've neglected the entire point of my previous post: it doesn't matter how great the Apple router is when it fails to meet the first-priority technical requirement for the user in question -- the OP, who needs a router with hardware that can provide WAN to LAN throughput approaching 1gbps. The AirPort does not meet that criteria. That does not make the AirPort a bad product. It makes it an unsuitable product for this user. I really don't know how else to explain that to you.
Second error is making blanket assessments of brands instead of individual products. That is an industry sin.

Fair enough... If all the OP is worried about is throughput, then yes, there are better choices than the Apple branded products.
I was simply trying to make the point that there are other features to consider, above and beyond throughput.

A blanket assessment fits... I don't see another product on the SNB list that provides those same features? Am I wrong?

You still don't understand WAN to LAN throughput. At least I hope that's the problem.
