Backing up contacts to iTunes w/jailbroken 4s

I haven't backed up my phone since I jailbroke it (it's been a while). I'm not worried about losing my tweaks, however I want to protect my contacts. My phone is a few years old and I want to cover my arse just in case the phone goes haywire.
Can I backup my contacts to iTunes just like normal even though it is jailbroken?
Will backing via iTunes affect my jailbreak at all?

as long as you do not select to restore or update software you are fine. My phone usually stays jailbroken and I have never had an issue syncing
