I recently bought the Samsung hw-q900a to go with my Sony A8G. Soundbar is hooked up with hdmi through Arc. The TV has a few digital audio outputs. I had it on auto 1 but the dialog on some channels sounded like they were talking in a hallway, but the sound was more robust. Which setting should I go with?
Auto 1
Output compressed audio without change.
Auto 2
Output only compressed audio for multichannel content without change.
PCM
Always output in PCM.

2.
You don’t want compressed audio unless it digital...5.1 as an example. PCM is uncompressed but won’t give you the digital options you are likely wanting.
