ATT Unlimited Plan + Directv Now

Got an email from ATT this morning stating that if I switched over to their unlimited plan, I would get a $25 discount and free HBO. I'm already getting free HBO, they gave it to me for some reason. My current wireless plan is a shared 15gb with rollover, just two lines. When I called to inquire, they said I would pay the full price for two months, then the discounts would kick in. I hung up, feeling this was a, sort of, bait and switch deal. Why can't they just apply the discounts immediately?

Call back. I always get a different answer everytime I call about something. Sometimes you luck up with getting someone who understands english.

I was looking on their website, and comparing plans. I'm currently paying $130 for 15gb. The unlimited plan is $155, but slows speeds after 22gb, and limits you to 10gb/device when using it as a hotspot. The 25gb plan is $150 and doesn't slow speeds, and you can use the entire 25gb as a hotspot. Convince me why I should get the Unlimited plan. Where is my thinking is wrong.

If AT&T works like Verizon you aren't automatically slowed after 22GB. You may be deprioritized while you're on a congested network. Odds are you won't notice a slow down at all. I'm at 35GB with Verizon and have had videos get a bit grainy for a minute or two a few times but that's it. Check and see if the unlimited plan is throttled or deprioritized. They aren't the same.

I am on the unlimited plan with DirecTV and I never noticed that I'm being throttled. I have been up to 42 gigs without being throttled.

I called back and got a different person, along with completely different information. I was told I would only get throttled if I'm over 22gb and in a "congestion" area. I can hotspot 10gb on each device and I received a $25 discount on my Directv Now account each month and free HBO. Although the $25 discount won't kick in for two months, I will still get credit for those first 2 months. First chick said I wouldn't. Also, I'm going to get a 15% veterans discount on the cell bill. The cool thing is, I'm only paying $35 for Directv Now, so it's going to drop to $10. She did passively try to sell me on switching back to satellite Directv. They must be hurting bad.
