I work for a small firm that utilizes a mass text system through email. We operate Outlook and send a text message to about 260 recipients everyday. The message consists of about 50-80 characters. Recently most ATT customers don't receive the text for hours while Verizon is mostly within a few minutes. Typically we're using the mms.att.net address. We tried the txt format but nothing changed. The message size in my sent box ranges from 6 KB to 35 KB for the exact same message.

My veteran IT guy and I are stumped. Could always be an ATT issue or possibly Outlook but wanted to plead my case here to see if anyone has any insight. Thanks in advance.

It's likely on AT&T. We had the same issue at my job with one of our clients, but with Verizon. We had their alarm system send out SMS alerts (to Outlook) to about 200+ employees. Similar to what you are doing now.

For some reason, this stopped working one day and I forget exactly what the issue was, but Verizon changed something on their end that prevented these alerts from going out.

You're going to have to buy something, all our email->sms with ATT is down, has been for months. We had to use a 3rd party for on-calls.

Yeah I think we had that happen last year when they randomly flagged us as spam but got that corrected.

My IT guy mentioned third party companies to send out messages. Hadn’t heard of that before but dreading that if that’s the case.

You should look at twilio. There is a cost but it isnt outrageous. You will have to register your messaging as a campaign. At&t recently started this so maybe they are flagging what you are doing as not being a registered campaign. 10DLC is what the carriers are calling this new set of rules. You can google att 10dlc and get info.
