That wire/cable is pretty tough.. My fiber cable was hanging low over the street but it was still working... A neighbor decided to take the slack out of it by rolling it up and hang it on my house.. That broke the fiber optic wire (?) in the line.. ATT had to come out and replace the line..

Contractor snapped mine when they tried to move the wall plate. It was that clear exposed fishing line coming out of the black sheath and I knew it immediately when I saw the crimp.

Fortunately ATT came back out and fixed it the next day and now it's in a protected closet where it should have been to start with.

ETA still boggles my mind how tiny optical cable is and how we're still barely scratching the surface of it's bandwidth.

When you're holding that clear wisp of a line in your hand it's even more impressive. Wasn't there just a single fiber cable under the ocean originally that was serving the whole European continent??
