Umm.. I thought If you didn't have an ir blaster on the phone then it would work as a remote??

My mother in law has a Z10..... That thing was terrible when I picked it up last night.
I think the S5 and Note 4 were good on hardware but horrible on software. I have the Note 4 and the hardware that came with it is amazing and was very advanced at the time but a locked bootloader and refusal to update to the latest bug free android made me swear off Samsung.
I did hear that the new phones are much better on the software but locked bootloader is a no go no matter how good it is. If I wanted a locked system, I would go Apple.
