I always keep a flashlight in my ride for emergency. But every one I get always has batteries that corrode or the cartridge that holds the batteries corrodes. Does a metal exterior have any influence whether batteries corrode? Every one I have had has. And cleaning the cartridge or the flashlight never does any good. Can the temperature or humidity impact corrosion? Is there a flashlight made that is more resistant to corrosion than others?

Don't use alkaline batteries or keep the batteries separate if not used often.

True, but they do get a sticky buildup with frequent use.
