So got him a 3d printer which came with a sample gcode file. So off to the web we went to find other things for him to print. Found a few websites like thingiverse. All the files are in all format which isn’t recognized by the printer. All I have is a work laptop that I don’t have admin rights to install cuts or something similar to convert the files. Is there an easier way to get gcode files for him to print?

Which printer?

Makerworld and Printables are both better than thingiverse these days. Cults3D and Thangs are also out there.

Basically STL and 3MF are your two big type of files for 3D printing. You will take these and put them in your slicer of choice based on the type of printer you bought. You will use that to slice into gcode to put on your printer in various ways depending on brand of printer.

I think creality has their own slicer now, I know everyone use to use Cura with the Enders, but I gave mine away when Bambu came on the market. No use messing with that nonsense when I can have a reliable machine I don't have to tinker with anymore.
