2017 MacBook Pro Screen Went Out

Annoying as hell because I didn’t buy AppleCare. Apple wants to charge me $900 to replace the screen. Fortunately I use it as a clamshell at work so it will work for me temporarily until I figure out what to do.
Any idea if a third party can fix it in the New Orleans area and/or how much it will cost?
Honestly, considering going to a Surface Pro. For 1K I can get a pretty nice one. I love my MBP but it’s so expensive.
