Pretty entertaining read, for me at least.

Their breakdown made the Gomez choice make sense. Teams are going to start parking the bus and trying to counter against Germany so Gomez is there to try to finish crosses.

They make a very good point about Germany's width potentially being the difference between them and Spain. When teams clog the middle of the field against Spain, they sometimes have a hard time breaking down a defense.

Germany has a target striker and players who are willing to hug the lines and pepper the box with crosses and that will help to either pull some defenders out or get a few good chances.

I'll say one thing: Mertesacker is going to have a hard time ever getting back into the squad after the way Mats Hummels played yesterday.

Bayern Munich released Hummels thinking he didn't have a future. He's now pretty much been shoving it up their arse for two years.

Don't remind me. They let him go in favor of Demichelis and van Buyten
