I try to watch MLS as much as I can but it seems like Dallas, along with San Jose, are one of those teams I rarely ever see.

But you hear so many different things about Shea position wise. Wasn't there some talk that Athletico Madrid liked him at center back? There's been talk that he could be our future left back. But doesn't he still mostly play more as a left winger?

I'm basically just trying to figure out if there's any hope at left back.

A bit off topic but who is our best left back ever? Its a pretty dire list.

Did John O'Brien ever play LB? If so, he's my pick.

I don't remember him playing there for us. He may have at some point. I know he played there for Ajax.

He's a left mid. Shea could probably play every position on the field. He'd be most useful to us at Left back or Striker, though.

Brek is probably bigger and faster than Jozy. If he becomes more fundamentally sound, he'll be a terror to deal with anywhere on the pitch.

Here are some highlights.

I guess Agoos is as good a choice as any. Then there was the Regis experiment, Hedjuk did ok in 2002 but he's a right back. Didn't we start Eddie Lewis there against the Czechs in 2006? And then Boca and since then its been Boca and Bornstein.

Not much.

Its not that surprising, its easier to find a good right back than a good left back but still its not an inspiring list.

Daniel Karbassiyoon could have been the LB for the future. If not for knee injuries.

Shea has more potential in defense, but is a better left mid right now
