The Athletic can reveal that gameweek 20 — the fixtures on December 28-30 — is the round most likely to be pre-emptively postponed. The pick of those matches is Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester hosting one of his former clubs, Liverpool, on Tuesday, December 28. The matter will be part of discussions at a meeting between Premier League club executives at 1pm GMT on Monday. Six of the 10 Premier League matches were called off this weekend because a series of clubs registered a spike in COVID-19 cases, leaving them unable to fulfil fixtures.

My biggest question is why not postpone the boxing day and dec 27 matches instead?

Or any at all?

*whispers* they should probably stop everything for a few weeks

Everything at my club is fine

Some leagues like Germany only have 18 teams. Most leagues don’t have two cup competitions. Plus England has a ton of teams playing in Europe.

I think Germany went back to matches behind closed doors. I don't see how that would affect the health of the players at all, but I'm not an epidemiologist. I agree, it is strange that England seem to be reeling from this while other countries are coping well enough.

I personally think it’s a plan put in place by the government
The EPL and Football league in total are one of the least vaccinated leagues among the other big ones
They want their players vaccinated so they don’t have to test.
As mentioned in another thread, Serie A is 98% vaccinated, couldn’t find La Liga numbers but Barcelona said their entire org from players to staff is 99.9%
