I'm watching Por vs Ned on ESPN and I'm finding it to be a very interesting game. I'm also wondering why that last goal by Portugal wasn't counted. I kind of understand offside calls but it seemed he was in the right position. Can player not make a cut towards the goal?

when a ball is struck by a player on your team you can't be past the last defender. when ronaldo struck the ball, postiga was in an offside position.

It took me a while to figure it out. You'll get the hang of it.

Thanks for the answers. At the moment the ball is struck, you can't be behind the defender? Think that answers it for me. It makes it tough on the offense with that set up.

Can you break behind.the defender after the ball is struck?

It's second to last because the goalkeeper is the last defender.

It's second to last because the goalkeeper is usually, but not always the last defender.
