FAAB stands for free agent acquisition budget. We would be using hypothetical money. This would still be a free league.

With the FAAB system you have, say $100 (or Euros, but I do not know where that symbol is), to spend over the course of the season on free agents. Every week, all members would email you the amount they want to spend on unowned players by Wednesday at 11:59 pm. Let's say that Carlton Cole is unowned (to continue with Sheep's example) and he scores a brace for West Ham in the first week of play. Of course, multiple owners will want to add him, so they will send you an email for how much they want to bid for him. You can only bid once on a player per week. Whoever submits the highest bid gets the player and has that total subtracted from their FAAB.

The other players do not lose their money. FAAB is the best way to go when you have a huge free agent come about. Let's say that Cavani is purchased by Chelsea over the winter trade window, and everyone really, really wants Cavani. Then, you could have massive bids of over half your FAAB budget. I just think it is more fair than whoever happens to be online at the time. Also, any players that do not have a bid accounted for by Wednesday night can be picked up for free on Thursday or Friday.

The downside of FAAB is that you would have to sift through emails each week. Also, you would have an unfair advantage in that you could also look at everyone's prices and just one up if you wanted to. A solution to that would be that you have to bid by Tuesday (and you would email another league member) and no one else could bid until your bidding period ended. Honestly, I feel that you would be trustworthy in the matter and there is no money at play, so I do not think that this would be an issue.

Waiver priority is initially determined by reverse draft order (sorry, Jumbo). When you make a successful waiver claim (no matter what position waiver you are), you drop back to 10th in the order. When you have a high waiver priority, you may want to be careful in using it in order to wait until a highly touted player becomes available.

Let's say that Sheep and I each want to place a waiver claim on Carlton Cole and Cavani. In the email to you, I would include "Add Cavani, drop Player X. This is my first waiver priority." Since Cavani is so highly coveted, Sheep sent the same email as me. Whoever had the higher waiver priority gets Cavani (let's pretend it is Sheep). Since Sheep won the waiver claim for Cavani, then he drops to 10th in waivers. Now that I think about it, waivers seem like a bitch to do without a computer system to automatically sort it. No offense, but the chance of human error seems pretty high. Not only is it more random than FAAB, but it actually sounds like the hardest and most work.

Also, we are still dealing with the same commish advantages/disadvantages as before.

I think we should not do continuous rolling waivers. I realized this when typing this up.

Basically, you just write in the transaction thread (either weekly or season long) who you want to add and drop. The only decision to make is whether you want to allow adds/drops.

Choice one is on Friday at 11:59 immediately after lineups lock, so the transaction is pending until Wednesday. The adds/drops can be made all week long whenever you want, but they would generally just apply to next week's squad unless it was done on Thursday or Friday.

Choice two is on Wednesday at 11:59 immediately lineups unlock. Transactions could be made over the next two days, but they would all apply to that week's lineup.

I think I would lean towards option 1.

After writing out all the processes, I think simple free agency may be the way to go. It requires the least amount of administrative work and it is the easiest for everyone to understand.

Ironically, doing this changed my stance on the matter. Hope this helps.

FAAB is probably the best system, but free agency might be the best for you
