I tend to agree with him.
Arsenal finished third, after losing their two best players last season, while only replacing them with spare parts. They conceded the most goals of any season during Wenger's tenure at the club.
Tottenham basically went into a free fall after Capello resigned, and still finished fourth.
Newcastle finished fifth with only a +5 goal differential.

Really? I think that suggests that it is the deepest and most competitive league in the world. If Chelsea has enough talent to make it to the champions league finals and can't even crack the top 5 I think it really speaks to what a great season teams like Newcastle, arsenal and spurs have had. Cisse, cabaye, Rvp, tv5, bale and Modric are all considered amongst the best in the world now not exactly like those teams are full of scrubs.

Look how well the recently promoted teams did. Norwich and Swansea both finished well above the relegation zone, and QPR didn't get relegated. I think that's only the second time in Premier League history that all three promoted teams avoided relegation. It's more of an indictment against the rest of the league, than a praise of Norwich (leaky defense) and Swansea (good football, average team).
Stoke scored 36 goals in a 38 game season, and never were close to getting relegated. That's not just Stoke being Stoke. Teams scored on them too.

Meh this can really be a moot point.
For example: both City and Man United could have won the league, and were knocked out of the UCL after the group stages.
Two Spanish teams were in the final of the Europa League, neither will be in the Champion's League next year.

Well it basically comes down to those teams winning enough of their home games. Teams coming up and actually passing the ball and making it difficult for the established teams to win on the road is the key to staying in the league.
Swansea and Norwich both had young managers with an exciting brand of football that the players bought in to. QPR has been pretty bad most of the season but in the end Bolton just couldn't overcome their injury crisis and I think qpr spent enough.
When you consider that teams like Blackburn and Villa have been run so poorly by their owners, had injury crisis' of their own and a pair of inept managers and I think that explains the 3 promoted teams achieving safety.

I don't know why there has to be a best league. Can't we just agree that la liga and epl are both great leagues? Both have elite teams, over the last 3 years la liga teams have dominated in Europe but I think the top epl teams have been in transition.
I think way too much has been made out of the epl teams going out early in the champions league this year. How many times has man u not made it out of the group in the last 20 years? It's a tournament, things like that can happen the best team doesn't always win.

This is my argument in essence. A team making the finals of a different tournament, should not be used in arguing for the strength of one league over another. You shouldn't uphold the greatness of the BPL, because Chelsea made the finals, while throwing out the failure of the league's two best teams in the same competition. It's a moot argument.

Yes I agree. But it would be moot if a team like spurs had made it to the final in the way Chelsea have. Chelsea have been the 2nd best team in the epl over the last 10 years and are in the final of the champions league for the 2nd time in 4 years. They didn't become bad over night, yes they are getting older but they've also brought in some very expensive younger players. They are still a very good team and yet other teams in England have caught up to them
