Can someone explain to me, when do the European teams (who are participating in the Euros) start their qualifiers for the World Cup.....since we're beginning today.
Also, why do some consider the Euros more difficult to win vs. the WC? And are the Euros really bigger/more important than the Olympics & winning the gold?
Thanks

Belgium is pretty awesome despite having a terrible government/social situation.

Poles looking good so far, Greece uncharacteristically in a poor defensive posture

I think they start in September.
On average, the quality of teams in the Euros is better than the World Cup.

They have already had the draws, the games start this fall. They play in several six-team groups with the winner qualifying and the second place teams playing home-and-home playoffs with other second place teams to qualify.

There are no weak teams like New Zealand or North Korea in this tournament.

Yes. This is an arbitrary number, but I would say it has 3/4 the importance of the World Cup to Europeans.

IMO, Wikipedia is the best way to keep up with WC qualifying brackets and such.

Undefeated at the World Cup
I bet that the first Greek goal will come from a player with a last name ending with an "s".

Poland somewhat of a sleeper in this one? Anyone?

Gotcha, appreciate the info
Even though teams like NK are really weak (with fake Chinese fans
), aren't they still qualifying and beating other teams to get that spot in the WC? Or does NK have an easier time qualifying since they're in Asia?

dang that was close for Poland

I think they can get out of the group. Group A is pretty weak.

Idk if this has been mentioned but Greece's goalie looks like Mr. Bean

They did in 2010. North Korea has already been eliminated from WC 2014.

Wow, so much can change over the next 2 years. That's crazy to already be eliminated......
