I liked Ochoa because he had a little bit of that nasty CONCACAF in him that got under opponents’ skin. Too much CONCACAF, apparently.

Considering the age gaps between goalkeepers is different than for other positions, that is an incredibly banal statement. Guzan and Howard are six years apart, and are largely considered part of the same relative generations. If we took that age gap and applied it to the rest of the GK pool, it's far more likely that any talent gap will be plugged senior players. Turner, Horvath, and Steffan could all play a part in three cycles. That's a rather unique circumstance in international soccer, in a position where the US has always developed talent. I think we will be fine.
