I've been using the Under Armor MPZ for a few years now. They're a floppy, gelatinous material, and I was scared to death the first few times I used them.
They hold up to tough challenges well, and I think tear my legs up less than traditional shin guards. I've put these on one leg and a traditional shin guard on the other and had people whack me in the leg with a cleat, and the UA provided better cushion, believe it or not.
They're also VERY light.
