Great season for his club- historic in fact, but he just can't perform on the clutch stages.

i would not say that at all. the dude set up one of the earlier goals. He makes the defense adjust and opens up other guys, he is going to finish some chances

He stifles more than he creates, and is on par with Torres in terms of nervousness, trying too hard, and yes, is a damned ball hog (to the detriment of his teammates, and therefore, the team).

I'll agree with that. I'm a huge CR7 fan, but those are his cons in a nutshell.

He has played well in plenty of huge matches e.g. headed goal in Copa del Rey final and 40 yd screamer against Porto when United was dangerously close to crashing out of the CL
Predictably, he hasn't played well in games when his team has been overrun

His shot selection is borderline retarded, and he is fairly predictable on the ball out wide left w/i 30 yds: left foot = cross, right foot = shot.
IMO, his most impressive attributes relate to what he does off of the ball. His movement is very, very intelligent, and he attacks the ball with such conviction that, 99% of the time, defenders look like they are just standing around.

Like Lebron, he has immense pressure on him, whether it is fair or not.
Remember that Portugal lacks the midfield help that Ronaldo usually gets from Ozil. Ronaldo is an insanely unique and talented player. Then again, it is entirely possible that he is not as interested in international play.
I hope he rights the ship against the Netherlands.
