I thought he retired in 2011.

Not officially I guess. The article I read said he still had offers on the table but he decided to hang the boots up.

I know he got divorced, and that threw him for a loop. I also know that he was still getting offers after he had quit playing. I guess he was still entertaining offers (probably Raul and company were funneling offers from the Persian Gulf, and obviously, cash was/is to be made, and lazy half-assed play like his could be tolerated).
Before you get on about the play comment, I love the guy, love his moxie too. But he has been but a shadow of himself since 2008/9.

I won't object to that comment. It's very well known what kind of player he has been the past 5 years.
