That's troubling. Are our national team players really trying to acquire tactics, that as Jermain insinuates, are learned at the academy level in Germany.
FWIW, if this guy isn't on the field for the US, we're not fielding our strongest possible side.

At the same time it's not exactly super troubling considering JJ isn't tearing it up and he got taught in a german academy.. while Dempsey got taught in a Texas academy and is a top 5 goalscorer in arguably the top league in the world this year?

It's not recent news that we lag behind in the technical/tactical aspects of the game. Then again, several other decent football countries also contain tactically naive talent pools. England, the more successful West African countries, and Russia are producing talented players without much tactical knowledge. Even certain Brazilian and Argentine players who are not trained in European academies often lose that aspect of their football education.
Even Germany was slightly behind the football evolutionary curve until Klinsmann and Löw took charge.
