You're basically asking for Gareth Barry at this point. There are very few disciplined world-class CDM available these days, and few with the ability of Songdihno.

The Makelele role doesn't have quite the clout/demand as it did five-six seasons ago with the emergence of the DLP. The only truly world class defensive midfielders are Busquets and a healthy Schweinsteiger, neither of whom are available.

Without someone protecting Song these days our team suffers. It was seen with our record without Arteta. Im not asking for a world class cdm. Just a quality mid who has defensive discipline.

As long we play the double pivot, it'll be hard to find a midfield partner that is willing to stay back, since Wenger asks our midfielders to contribute to the attack. I really don't want to lose Song, as he's another player who came to us as a youngster and has turned into a good player. We won't find a better player for less than 25 mil.

Trust me guys. You don't want to lose Song. Finding a quality central midfielder is hard as hell. Bayern is in search of one right now. Javi Freakin' Martinez costs 40mm.

No team wants to lose their center mids.

De Rossi won't leave.
Bilbao is asking way too much.
Bayer Leverkusen refuses to sell Lars Bender
Yaya Toure? Yeah right.

No one wants to spend the 20 or so mil it would take for Yann M'vila either.

Arteta does it and he never played that way before he came to Arsenal. Song needs to realize he is not Cesc. If he could truly find a balance in his play he would be world class.

He had 11 assists in the PL last year, good for 4th. Same as Cesc had in 10/11. Not saying he's Cesc, but he definitely contributes a great deal to our attack. Like others have said, we're not going to find a suitable replacement. I mind his going forward less than I do TV5's.

Ok then let him move up and pair him with someone else who would sit back more. Not questioning his talent. Dunno if just Arsene's system but the midfield was horrendous all year at protecting the back 4.

As i posted in the transfer board, Carzola fee is £12.5mil. We're paying up front in cash and thus got a bargain. Hell of a steal.

It's not a matter of anyone protecting the back four. Our CM positioning indicates that Wenger values winning the ball high up the pitch more than he values someone shielding the back four. Nearly all our problems defensively come from inconsistent pressing from the front and the left side of our D's suspect positioning on occasion. When we do press for the whole game, a la Man City, we're rather dominant.

Brilliant move by Wenger.

Maybe too much damage has been done, but RvP really can't accuse us of lacking ambition if we net Poldi, Giroud, Carzola, and Sahin this summer. Would be Wenger's best summer in a long time.

If RvP wasn't injured so often, maybe we would have won something in 07, 09, and 10. This is what irks me about the whole situation. We had great teams those seasons, but no RVP. In our worst team since 2005-06, RvP played great, but I'm not confident he'll actually be able to stay healthy when we want to push for trophies, because he's never been able to stay healthy when we push for trophies.

Very true. Would love to see him stick around for one last go round. Some really interesting combination possibilities.

Very seldom have I seen us press up field successfully. I think its an organization problem. Some are pressing while others arent. If we would just play defensive as an more organized unit we could be unbelievable. They talent defensively is there. We just need to get the best out of it.

There have been rumors and just rumors that RVP is having second thoughts about staying. But if I had to guess though I'd still say he is leaving.

That's exactly the problem. The benefit of the double pivot is that it allows for both CB's to be pressed, as the AM can press one CB while the forward presses another. The wingers press the fullbacks, and each CM picks up his opposite number. When we play the 4-1-4-1/4-3-3, the CM's pick up their opposite number, and the DM picks up anyone who sneaks between the lines, but one CB is always left unmarked, so if you want to press, you have to have a winger move to press a CB while a forward presses the other CB, which leaves a full-back unmarked.

15 millon euros for Cazorla. A fricking steal. Get ready Arsenal, you'll love this guy's pluck, inexhaustible motor, drive and 'hambre' (hunger for winning). He has been an 'against all odds' all his frickin' life, and has come out victorious every damned time.

WTF is this shite? Explain, moron. If you're alluding to Spanish technical superiority, and the lack of the need to run (as the ball will do so), I agree, but this guy does it anyway (normally).
