Seems kind of retarded, but I guess it’s to avoid having the games in the summer for a good portion of the continent.
Also is kind of weird to not have someone from the current champions in this graphic.

AFCON in the summer just wasn’t the same. At least one club needs to be fricked by them each year or it’s not fun.
