Legion will start the US Open Cup in the 2nd round.

They will either play @ FC Baltimore, or host West Chester Predators

go Preds!

Looking forward to this weekend's game and the first goal/win at home! Should be a great day of drinking and easter egg hunting

Hate it for Legion that Wright got called up. He was making quite an impact up front, but good for him on getting back up to the Revs.

Screw it, let’s play all games on the road from now on! At least we drew instead of a loss, but I’d love to see a home goal at some point.

No shite. I think we need to go back to playing with 2 forwards, even without Wright.

Man, what a game. Looked so much better with the second forward up top with Hoffman. The place went crazy when that goal finally went in. Was a very refreshing beer shower! What a night!

How has Hoffman scored so many USL goals? He misses so many chances.

At this point I think it's just a matter of pressure. He needs to get his shite together soon though.

They just announced the teams that will be participating in the inaugural USL Academy Cup and Legion is one of the teams. We are participating in the Eastern Conference regional which takes place in February 2020. The national event is in May 2020. There will be 2 age groups, U13 and U17. Looks like we have until February to get our academy up and running.

The U13s will only participate at the National event, U17 will have both Regional and National events.

Didn't get to watch, but looks like a crazy last 10 minutes to get a draw (even though the foul that gave us the late PK actually occurred outside the box)

Birmingham Legion FC today announced the formation of the Legion FC D-League, a developmental youth soccer league for boys and girls. The league joins boys and girls teams playing in U9, U10, and U11 divisions from six local youth clubs (Birmingham United Soccer Association, Briarwood Soccer Club, Homewood Soccer Club, Hoover Soccer Club, Trussville United Soccer Club, and Vestavia Hills Soccer Club) and begin play in the Fall of 2019.

“Our club is fully committed to the growth of the game and the development of young players,” said Legion FC President and General Manager Jay Heaps. “We identified this developmental league as a great opportunity to play a part in their competitive growth. Through this program, we will participate in their improvement and we hope to inspire the young talent throughout the region.”

The Legion FC D-League starts September 7, with Saturday morning games played between the clubs through November 2.  Individual clubs will train on their own, scheduling additional matches and tournaments to fit their vision for development. Legion FC coaches and players will also be made available to assist in the development of soccer curriculum, coaching education, clinics and promotional appearances.

Initial evaluations will be scheduled by the six member clubs. Participating players, boys and girls, will be provided a season pass to Birmingham Legion FC home games. All uniforms will be adorned with a Legion FC badge.

Would be cool if they could expand that to include a club from both Huntsville and Montgomery in the future.

I imagine they'll use this as scouting/proving ground for their U13 academy team, as well as some form of compensation for signing the players from the youth clubs.

If anything those would likely be League One clubs

This is just for U9-U11 teams. They could include one youth club from each city until those cities get a League One team.
