1. First of all, congrats to Bama. As a Vols fan, this is just the icing on the cake that was a shitty football season, but it is what it is. Say what you want about claimed national titles, but as far as consensus national titles go, they're now looking at Notre Dame in the rear-view mirror.
2. Nick Saban now has more national titles than Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno, and he has the same amount of AP/Coaches titles as Barry Switzer and Woody Hayes. That's unreal, especially considering every program he has taken over was struggling at the time. I'll probably never admit he's as good as the General was, but if he adds some more hardware to the trophy case, it will be pretty hard for me to say that with a straight face.
3. Bama's defensive performance yesterday was unbelievable. Say what you want about LSU's performance, but in their 12 games against other defenses, they've put up over 40 points a game. Bama has held them to 9 points in 2 games plus overtime. It's hard for me to think of many teams in the past that had a better defense than this group. 2001 Canes and some other teams may be up there, but this team still has a compelling argument.
4. AJ McCarron deserves a lot of credit for his play yesterday, too. He had some bad misses on what would have been huge plays, but he was able to evade the rush and make nice throws as well. He deserves a lot of credit for pulling that off against this secondary.
5. I know LSU fans aren't happy about how things turned out in the end, but they really can't be too upset with the way things are. They won another SEC title, finished 13-1 and #2, and there's a good chance they'll start out as the preseason #1 in 2012. It's hard to not be extremely happy with the state of your program right now.
I know I'm probably repeating what has been said, and I'm sure most won't bother reading this whole thing, but I felt like posting it anyways so hopefully someone enjoys it.
