"I just feel like Alabama is the best place for me," Allen says. "I can relate to all the coaches and the players who are here. I feel that the coaching staff at Alabama can help me develop to my potential on the field and off the field. I think they can help me become the best player I can be. They can prepare me to go to the next level. They can also help me become a better man."
Allen made the trip to Tuscaloosa this weekend with his parents. His father, Scott Lang, says that there were several important factors that played into his son's decision.
"First of all, there is Coach Saban and the coaching staff at Alabama," Lang says. "A lot of credit goes to the coaching staff. From a parent's perspective, you feel really good about sending your son to Alabama to get an education and play football. And it starts with the coaches here. Coach Bo Davis was very instrumental in recruiting Keenan. He deserves a lot of credit for his efforts in the recruiting process.
"I feel very comfortable that Alabama is not only a good school to get an education and play some football, but it's a great environment for a young man. You visit Alabama and you see that it's a very safe place to send a kid off to school, and that means a lot to a parent."
"You look at the game today," Lang adds. "It tells you a whole lot about the kind of program they have. People might think it's all about the players, but it's not. It's about the coaches, the fans and the school as a whole. This game showed what Coach Saban and his coaching staff have built with their players. That was a resilient team effort by Alabama out there. They started a little sluggish, but they fought back and didn't give up. They came back and played very well in the second half. That tells me as a parent a lot about this program and what they are teaching these young men. There is a bright future here and it's something that I am excited to have my son have the opportunity to experience."
