Devonta Smith? Jeudy? Waddle? Diggs? Ruggs? Najee?

I've had an epiphany
Posted by Spread on 12/2/17 at 10:56 pm
This is my opinion, so TIFWIW...
After watching (supposedly) high quality college football all day I've come to realize that Saban is a victim of his own recruiting success; after watching the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, and ACC championship games it is obvious to me that no team has as much raw talent as Alabama. That said, Alabama is NOT the best TEAM I've seen. Alabama, right now, is a collection of highly recruited individuals and some are more interested in protecting their draft stock than winning championships. That, combined with the fact that our QB is a RB trying to be a QB, means it will be difficult if not impossible to win any sort of championship until the players put TEAM first and the coaching staff adapts to our QB's strengths.

Why is the SECN located in an ACC state?

Atlanta makes much more sense to me.

The Problem with HUNH Offenses
Posted by Spread on 12/29/14 at 12:54 pm
I don't particularly care for HUNH offenses, but it is obvious they are not going away. HUNH teams might as well say "we know we can't beat you straight up, so we're going to try to trick you."
My personal opinion aside, I don't care if other teams run the HUNH as long as the game is administered properly.
And therein lies the problem - often times chain gangs are not set properly and/or officials are not in their proper spots when the ball is snapped.
The following quote from MSU LB Ed Davis:

When we looked at the game film for Baylor again, we could see the chains weren’t even set up before they were running the next play.”

Merry Christmas to tRant
Posted by Spread on 12/24/14 at 8:21 am
Here's wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! I'm looking forward to watching some good football, eating some great food, and spending time with family and friends. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season, and GO SEC in all the bowl games!
Ending the drama now.

Auburn will lose at least four games this year. In addition to LSU, they should have lost to Miss St., UGA, and Bama last year. Deny it all you want Auburn fans, but you KNOW it took "once-in-a-lifetime" plays on consecutive weeks to beat UGA and Bama (both at home), and you were outplayed by Miss. St. It doesn't really matter if you agree now, by the end of the year AU will be back to their usual, irrelevant selves. When you lose to KSU early in the season, you'll start to believe what I'm saying. Roll Tide.
SEC Football Coaching Landscape in 2017
Posted by Spread on 5/24/14 at 10:01 pm
I believe there will be a large amount of coaching turnover over the next three years:
Alabama: 50/50 chance Saban is gone
Arkansas: ?
Auburn: ?
LSU: Miles is gone
Ole Miss: ?
Miss St: Mullen is gone
Texas A&M: 50/50 chance Sumlin is gone
Florida: ?
Georgia: Richt is gone
Kentucky: ?
Missouri: 50/50 chance Pinkel is gone
South Carolina: Spurrier is gone
Tennessee: ?
Vanderbilt: ?
I can easily see half of the SEC having new football coaches by the 2017 season, due simply to longevity in most cases. With the number of "proven" winners shrinking nationally, it will be interesting to see who schools pursue to fill the vacancies.

-10So much for the demise of the SEC.

Five teams in the top eleven of the current BCS ratings, and the amazing thing is that UGA, LSU, and UF are not among the five. This truly shows the overall, year-to-year strength of the conference.

What happened to this kid? He had an interception versus Michigan in the first game and I don't remember him doing much since. Did he get hurt, or was he a victim of talent?
SEC Divisional Parity
Posted by Spread on 11/25/12 at 7:30 am
SECw versus SECe record is 7-7 entering the SECCG. Bama, LSU, aTm trio for the west and UGA, UF, and USCe for the east is a good cross-divisional balance. Fitting that final inter-divisional bragging rights rest on the SECCG.
SECw is 5-2 against the SECe.

Maybe the declarations that the East had overtaken the West for SEC supremacy were premature...
Avatar/True Loyalty Disparity
Posted by Spread on 8/14/12 at 8:54 pm
Honest question: I have only recently begun posting but have been lurking for quite some time. One odd thing I've noticed is that some poster's avatars do not match their true school loyalty; i.e., a poster will have a Bama avatar but actually be an LSU fan. Or, their avatar indicates the poster is an Arkansas fan when they are actually a Louisville fan. Why is this?
