Let's talk large swimbaits for bass.

Posted by armytiger16 on 4/16/17 at 9:11 am
I've just started experimenting with large (7-10inches) swimbaits to target big bass. Anyone use big swimbaits and have some tips?

I was a bit unsure about throwing a 10 inch swimbait until my first hit on one. It blew my reel clean off my rod when I set the hook.

A plea to the mighty chicken

Posted by armytiger16 on 4/26/16 at 7:47 pm
I humbly request a name change to Xeones. I signed up as armytiger16 back in 2010 when I discovered TD while out of the country. I've noticed other armytiger# lately and am no longer in the army. As a token of my appreciation I will not eat your chicken brethren for one month and campaign for free range rights of all chickens. Thanks for your consideration.

Tor question

Posted by armytiger16 on 2/17/16 at 6:47 pm
I was at the public library earlier this week and was suddenly denied access to the public wifi for unauthorized use of tor on the network. My browser displayed the message (no pop ups) and when i tried to reconnect to wifi it said access denied due to security violation. I wasn't using tor and have never on the laptop I was using.I am frequently researching terrorism, national security, etc for the the masters program I'm in so my browsing habits are centered around those subjects.

Any ideas what triggered this? phishing attempt, glitch in network security, NSA coming for me?

Allergic reaction to IPhone or case?

Posted by armytiger16 on 12/17/15 at 7:58 am
Recently I've developed some sort of skin allergy on my fingers. Its more severe than dry/cracking skin from winter weather and an allergic reaction to my iPhone 6 or the case seems like the most likely factor. Anyone ever had their phone or phone case cause skin irritation? The case is made by unicorn beetle.
I went out to False River a few weeks ago after not visiting for several years. We were in a bass boat but it struck me that it would be fun to take my kayak out there and fish the piers. Anyone have recommendations or advice for targeting bass out of a kayak on False River? Am I going to get run over by a cigarette boat like my wife is telling me?

I want to believe this is fake but I'm pretty sure this is real. Is this the most dangerous/complicated way to hunt rabbits ever?

Installing stadium chair on kayak

Posted by armytiger16 on 6/18/15 at 9:34 am
I picked up a portable stadium chair from Costco last saturday for $20 to see if I could install it on my Emotion Stealth Angler sit on top 10ft. Buying a better kayak isn't an option right now so I wanted a cheap solution to a more comfortable seat that could give me better support and be higher off the water. The original seat was decent but was just sitting on the hull with a back that didn't give great support. I'm 6'2 190lb but have some back issues from the army so long trips could put a hurting on me.

Supplies needed were around $10 and included rubber furniture caps, titanium metal drill bits, screws, 4" bolt, and 1" dowel rod. Total install time was about 2 hours which was mainly drilling through the 1/2" steel of the chair frame. I was able to secure the rear with a 4" bolt into the bolt hole for the original seat and the front is held down by straps that can be easily removed. I haven't got a chance to take it on the water so I will update after the weekend if anyone is interested. I sat in it in the backyard and it was much more comfortable with better support for my back. I was also about 9" higher which is a big difference in a kayak. pics are below.

How to stop advocate teaser papers

Posted by armytiger16 on 5/31/15 at 9:31 pm
It doesn't matter how many times I call or email the advocate headquarters they won't stop throwing teaser papers in my yard. While I applaud their ability to throw their advertisements in the wettest part of the yard I would like them to stop. Last
time I called to ask them to stop the actually told me they have no idea where the teasers are thrown so they can't stop them. Apparently the Advocate operates their advertising department like its a rogue hit man. Anyone have suggestions on how to get them to stop?

Looking to catch some crabs

Posted by armytiger16 on 4/1/15 at 4:05 pm
Anyone have any recommendations on where the closest place from Baton Rouge that I could snag some crabs? I've got a buddy who went crawfishing with some traps sized for crabs so they need to be put to better use
Does anyone frequent LA sportsman forums? Periodically I check out the LA sportsman forum for info but always get frustrated at the lack of posts and general broken English feel of a lot of the posts. Am I missing something?

Legit business opportunity?

Posted by armytiger16 on 2/18/15 at 8:31 am
I just received an email with a unique business opportunity to make some quick cash. A Major Eric Miller in the British army happens to be stationed in Syria and found 15 million dollars that he needs my help getting out of the country. He's offering me a 30% cut of the 15mil to receive two shipping containers with the money. Is this a new ISIS tactic to kidnap westerners or am I about to make some
easy cash? I might be looking for a partner if anyone wants to go Halvesies

Fishing lake Ohkissa with a kayak

Posted by armytiger16 on 1/13/15 at 8:52 am
My main question is the regulations. I called the MS wildlife and fisheries and no one seemed to have a clue what a kayak was but they all basically said you don't need registration or boater safety course. I'm concerned about getting over there and being hassled by enforcement. Does anyone have any experience taking a kayak to Ohkissa? As always fishing tips are welcome.

Unwanted advocates thrown on lawn

Posted by armytiger16 on 12/29/14 at 9:22 pm
Does anyone else have advocate teaser papers thrown on their lawn almost everyday? I called the advocate to ask them to stop and they said they weren't sure if it was possible to stop leaving them at a specific address. Anyone have this issue? I find it somewhat rediculous that a business drives by my house unsolicited every morning and throws what I consider trash in my yard that I have to pick up and throw away.

What to do with rainbow trout

Posted by armytiger16 on 12/20/14 at 4:24 pm
I caught a couple rainbow trout vacationing in that BREC cesspool by the skate park and am wondering what to do with these shiny little fellows. Anyone have recommendations for cooking cleaning? I normally filet and pan fry my fish but don't know if there's a special touch that should be used with the rainbow trout.

6 cops IVO Perkins and Dalrymple

Posted by armytiger16 on 6/11/14 at 7:07 pm
Anyone know why there's a significant number of cops by city park at Perkins and dalrymple stopping people. I'm not into the law enforcement hate but I see tons of shady stuff going down on terrace ave a half mile away but rarely cops. I'm pretty sure they could bust a lot of people on terrace for things other than seatbelts. I think I'm going to get my truck inspected tommorrow.
