Jonah Williams: What a Beast
Posted by Crede15 on 10/22/16 at 9:24 pm
Have made a point of watching him when it's possible, and Jesus.
His run blocking is great, but the pass protection is perfect

I think Jalen will win a Heisman

At some point before he leaves here
He's a beast and he'll learn the offense and hopefully get the accuracy issues figured out
But this year, do we have a QB problem?
I kind of think we possibly do.
If we get behind and we're playing a team that can at least contain our running game, we're kind of fricked. He's just very inaccurate.
Maybe no one can contain our running game

Kelvin Benjamin and Jordan Reed for Demarco Murray and Pitta

10 team standard scoring
I was offered Benjamin and Reed
Rest of team:
Brees
Zeke
Lesean McCoy
Hopkins
Cooks
Pitta
Murray
Arizona
Random kicker
Bench: Rivers, Maclin, Decker, Gore, Barnidge
All I've really been looking for is a TE.
Reasons not to: if Murray stays healthy I think he's a top five guy. His schedule is not scary at all. I don't care about Pitta
On the other hand, Reed fixes my TE issues, Benjamin is a stud, I'm a bit worried about Decker, and I could stash Kenneth Dixon or handcuff Zeke with Alfred Morris
Any thoughts?

Marlon Humphrey was our best corner last year
Posted by Crede15 on 9/5/16 at 9:29 pm
Is that really controversial? He clearly was. After him you had Cyrus and Minkah.
And he clearly is our best corner this year.
Minkah is a great playmaker, but Marlon is the shutdown guy.
I think he's finally starting to get his due, but it amuses me when announcers act like Minkah will be the guy who has the assignment on the other teams' stud receiver.
NFL scouts are presumably paying more attention than the announcers.

Our Defense is just poorly coached
Posted by Crede15 on 1/2/15 at 12:18 am
It just is. It's the elephant in the room.
Considering our recruiting, there's just no excuse for how awful our defense is. None.
Look at TCU - Ole Miss. Our defense just doesn't do that anymore. We are not capable of dominating a good-ish team. No one's scared of us. And those are middling recruits for TCU, at least compared to ours.
We couldn't design an effective "exotic" blitz to save our fricking lives. They never work. Never.
I don't even want to get into our secondary because that's a post unto itself, but holy fricking shite. Eddie Jackson is just abysmal. Our primary defensive coaches are secondary guys and our secondary is awful.
Our defense is trending downwards. That being said, it was an entertaining season. Blake kind of sucked at times, but is still one of my favorite players. On to the Bama basketball NIT watch!

The worst defensive half in Saban's tenure

They did WHATEVER THEY WANTED TO.
Eddie Jackson, my god.
The most disturbing thing is that they gashed us on simple Artis-Payne runs up the middle.
We have to stop the inside run. Everything else is tricky, but the inside run keys everything they do.

Am I the only one who thought that while he was bad today, his issues are fixable?
It wasn't like he was beaten physically, he just needs to read the game and learn to turn around
His coverage on the touchdown in the first half really wasn't bad at all.

Emerson Hyndman
Posted by Crede15 on 8/9/14 at 1:15 pm
I think this deserves a thread for US national team reasons. A very talented player.
Went the full 90 minutes today in Fulham's first game in the Championship (2-1 loss, shitacular defending).
Obviously Zelalem is the big name as far as young prospects go, and for good reason, but I think Hyndman is going to be talked about more and more as the year goes on.
Excellent technique and vision, easily Fulham's best player today in my completely biased opinion.
Hit 3-4 lovely long cross field passes. Nothing stats wise to back this up, but my guess is he had easily the most touches and passes of any Fulham player(and Fulham had a lot of the ball).
This is all an overreaction I know, but he looks like a potential legit DLP type. Good touch, good vision, good passing ability.
Announcers were very complimentary.

Should Jurgen experiment with a back three?
Posted by Crede15 on 7/2/14 at 10:01 am
I feel like we have some of the personnel for it, but it's something you've got to practice and experiment with during friendlies before you put it out there in a meaningful game.
First of all, we've got the wingbacks. Yedlin on the right and Fabs on the left is kind of perfect.
I don't think, like some have said, that Yedlin's future is as more of a winger. But he was kind of born to be a wingback, and with him and Fab getting down the lines we don't really need out and out wingers.
Then at the back we have some options: Besler, Brooks, Cameron, Gonzo, Parkhurst (only 30, could provide depth), younger guys like Okugo, Packwood, etc.
I'm not sure how the rest of the team would fill out. Clearly Bradley somewhere in the middle, Jozy up top.

Was fricking EVERYWHERE
Like most of our players, he at times appeared like he'd never practiced passing, but he literally ran up and down the left side for 90 minutes.

Fulham fire Rene Meulensteen, appoint Felix Magath

Bizarre. I thought Rene was doing a decent job, but Magath does have a pretty big reputation. I know much less about him than our Bundesliga people though.

I know we're down on the team, but a bit surprised that there's no thread at all.
I'm not updating the score.
We look ok. I mean it's impossible to get excited at this point.

Jozy's out with a hamstring problem

Worthy of a thread with the qualifiers coming up
From Sunderland's official twitter page
Sunderland AFC ?@SAFCofficial 1m
Striker @JozyAltidore is missing with a hamstring injury.
Expand
Not sure how serious obviously, but hamstring problems can linger.

Argentina-Colombia (World Cup Qualifier): beIN
Posted by Crede15 on 6/7/13 at 5:16 pm
On right now, in Argentina. Higuain through on goal but can't score. Argentina really could have two already.
Colombia don't look that great at the moment, but they do have some interesting attacking players. Falcao obviously, Jackson Martinez, James Rodriguez, etc. Not that I've seen a whole lot of the last two, but they're supposed to be big prospects.

DaMarcus Beasley

He's maybe not a great left-back (not surprising considering he's not a left-back), but he's a great squad player. He was on a yellow early on versus a good winger, had numerous little injury problems, and dealt with it like a fricking man.
I just like having him around. Partially it's good memories from 2002, but he's versatile as frick. He can add width as a left winger, and he can be an emergency left-back.

frick Tennessee. They have a player named Skylar McBee. We match up ok. Probably should have swept them. Inevitable win.
frick Florida. We don't match up well with them. Doesn't matter, this is a destiny train. Too bad for them.

Basketball: Have we underachieved that much this year?
Posted by Crede15 on 2/2/13 at 10:46 pm
I'm not sure we have.
This isn't a rah-rah Anthony Grant thread. I'm not as negative as some but I hate our offense, and would trade him for Gregg Marshall in a second. Forget the Bruce Pearl shite, it isn't happening.
But if you look back at what we were posting on here last year, none of us thought we were going to be that good. You could see it in the Florida game when Jamychal was suspended and Patric Young abused our post guys. It was beyond fricking obvious that our post was going to be a problem this year. And that's on Grant's big man recruiting.
I said constantly on here that he had to make the tournament last year because we weren't going to make it this year. And theoretically we still have a chance of making it this year.
Lacey, Releford, Cooper, Randolph (and you could even argue Gueye here) have progressed this year.
We should have beaten Cincy. I know most of us were watching the SECCG but I was watching that on ESPN 3 at the same time, and we really should have won. Who knows what would have happened if we had won that game?
Again, no rah rah, I'm not a huge fan of Grant at this point. I'm just not sure it's been as disappointing as some have made it out to be. And yes, the SEC sucks but who really thought it was going to be great?
Rambling, too long, didn't read, etc.

Don't think I've ever done an appreciation thread, but I just thought this guy maybe didn't get his due.
Not a star, sure. Wasn't a great pass rusher but the coaches obviously appreciated him as he was a consistent starter for us, and, considering he was a team captain, his teammates loved him too. A consistent part of a great run for our team.

that was fricking boring in an awesome way, but at least we have this to look forward to.
I hate watching ESPN unless it's for a game but this should be good.
Hopefully Mark May tweaks him more than usual.
