Have had a few odd incidents over last couple years of non shot geese in field. Geese that are confused and let you walk up on em. Son went this morning and reports dozens of snows in pond. Could walk up on em, won’t and just swim slowly away.

Anybody see this before? A little concerning. Thousands of geese around. Only one was a spec of around 30-40.

Everyday sunscreen moisturizer recs?

Posted by tigerfoot on 10/30/25 at 10:18 am
Appears my decades of neglect are starting to catch up, my blue eyes and fair skin dont fare too weill with sunburns on face and arms Looking to be more vigilant with skin care, especially on face and neck area.

Any of you guys use a daily sunscreen/moisturizer that doesnt feel like sunscreen? Not worried about sweat and such, as I dont mind the old fashioned stuff when I will be out and active in the sun.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Was that a message from Sloan? Look, I think he is bad. But if you had the most limited QB in the league. Wtf do you do.

Get a new guy in and he shoots it down the seam.

A friend from Cenla received an offer today. Three star I think. But watch film, he is a mam child. The strongest pound for pound kid I’ve ever seen.

Fast, mean and tough. Two way player. Saw highlights of safety play, he just picks up kids and throws em.
Put a smile on my face this moring. Yes, it is a facebook reel, but I wanted to share. I dont know how long these two have been buddies but we could all be so lucky.

Roof cleaning, opinions wanted

Posted by tigerfoot on 8/25/25 at 8:25 am
I have a 10 year old home, the dormers on front had gotten quite mildewed so I got my arse up on a 20 foot ladder and got them all cleaned up. They look really good. Problem is, the cleaning solution ran down the shingles under the dormer and I now have two patches of beautiful shingle, with all the black cleaned off of em. I have two choices, ignore it, or get the rest of roof cleaned to match

Ms. Foot is wanting whole roof cleaned, and I tend to agree with her that it would look so much better. My question is does anyone have any experience with this, and do the products use harm the roof at all? I know they will say they are safe, just curious if anyone has experience. My home faces North, the north and west sides are filthy, the south slope has no need for cleaning, it looks new. East has a little grime.

Advice needed, fishing Barataria area

Going thru my desk this week found a envelope for a fishing trip I bought a couple years ago at a banquet. Called and it is still honored, want to take a trip prior to school starting with the two boys. Easiest weekend for us is this one, fishing Sunday. After that we have to move some stuff around to go during a week. Looking at weather, it looks like rain Saturday. Will that shut down any bite that is happening? Would it be better to wait a week or so and let stuff calm?

Do fish even bite down that way in first of August? Thanks in advance.
After that we gonna have to hang on.
Needing to feed a HS team pizzas, looking for best options to grab 20 or so pizzas tomorrow night. Playing at John Ryan Stadium and will grab on the way back to hotel. Thanks for any help.
If anyone is in need of a course looks like LDWF is offering throughout the State free of charge this weekend. Wish I could take my 16 yo with me, but he has playoff stuff. Nine locations are offering. Boater safety info
Having a tear out and reinstall of our front, side beds. The older beds need work, the shape is nice, but needs soil work, needs to reclaim/refresh rock border installed around drip edge, and new plantings. Have agreed with local company to do it, recommended plantings were Dystilium in the back of the beds, with soft leaf yucca in front. Really liked the design and the ideas, but after looking at the yucca not sold on it 100%, it seems to look pretty woody after a bit, would like an option or two of some type of evergreen type plant, that stays about 18 inches tall and doesnt spread too much, plan calls for 27 of them, so it is would be a pretty big swap out if we changed out sooner rather than later.

Neurosurgeon recs?

Posted by tigerfoot on 1/31/25 at 9:24 am
Wife had a discectomy about 8 years ago, things have clicked along fine with a gradual worsening of symptoms over the last year...much worse in December with some weakening of right lower extremity. She has seen two well referenced neurosurgeons and has gotten two pretty different opinions. Both recommended fusion of l5 s1 with an anterior approach, but one has indicated it is urgent, one was like meh...just wait as long as you choose. Given her motor loss we are siding with the more urgent thoughts, Any experience with this on the board? Thanks in advance.

American Airlines is a terrible company

Heading out Friday to Steamboat, flying out of SHV. Bootked SHV HDN, HDN-SHV for return on the 24th. Getting everything together for the trip last night I discover that AA has unilaterally changed my departure to Vail/EGE, no call no email, no notification to be found. So now instead of returning car to HDN at 11 AM on the 24th, I must be in Vail at 7 AM. Witha a damn 5 hour layover in DFW.....5 hours, on Christmas Eve. Over a three hour hold time to speak with someone at AA. They did reply to a DM on twitter that the change was made due to too close a connection on my original flight (50 minutes). How can they just do this, I am not a hostage, or maybe I am. No compensation offered for any additional costs I incur, not a FU, nothing. Just "it is what it is", How would you guys try to handle this? I have always hated AA, never had a great experience, but the times were best for us, so I booked them. Never again
You just gotta save your chips and buy 6-7 mercenaries every year. NIL, portal, and fickle kids have made HS recruiting a fools errand.

Secrets to great baked chicken?

Posted by tigerfoot on 11/18/24 at 7:20 pm
I love a good roasted chicken. But when I make it it always seems the breast is tough. Maybe not dry but tough. Any secrets to keeping breast tender? Today I spatchcocked one. Rubbed the meat under the skin with butter and seasoning. Then seasoned with salt pepper tarragon and a little olive oil on skin. Placed in no 12 cast iron, placed I. Preheated oven at 375. Skin crispy and dark meat was great, but white meat not so much. Tips appreciated.

I am trying like hell to get logged into my coinbase account I set up a few years back to check status, I have tried everything. Anyone else overcome this frustrating crap.

Aphids on Crepe Myrtles?

Posted by tigerfoot on 10/23/24 at 11:00 am
Been having issues with black sooty stuff under the tree and on the leaves and trunk. Looking up on line seems like aphid infestatoin. Sprayed with Sevin about 6 weeks ago and it did improve quite a bit, but was trimming up internal branches last week and seems like they are back....is there a better treatment to get them off of them permanently. On a side note, my roses that were nearby got treated and they are looking healthier than prior!
Whew, we needed that.

NFL games are so close

Missing Hill and losing McCoy is the difference in 3-0 and beating Philly by 7-10 and this board burning down.

Stuck choke tubes

Posted by tigerfoot on 9/9/24 at 11:21 am
I have had two years of stuck choke tubes. On serperate guns, one a 20 ga Benelli and recently a 12ga Retay. Got both out eventually, but was wondering what you guys did or what not to do to avoid this. Should I unscrew and reseat each time I clean the gun? Or should I use a little solvent with it? I tossed each one of them incase I bent or warped them, both times the new choke screwed in easily so it seems I didnt damage the barrel.
