Even globalists promote free trade and OPEN markets, free from tariffs. The US tariffs, while not ideal, are merely reciprocal.

Almost every country had imposed unfair tariffs on American goods. You say this only hurts said country’s citizens. In reality, no one is more negatively affected than the American manufacturer. It is part of the reason we don’t “make anything” anymore.

I am a libertarian, but I can recognize that fact that Trump is using these tariffs as a way to force other countries into dropping their tariffs on us, which will create truly “Open” markets. Without doing this, we stand to lose even more of our manufacturing base and further adding to our trade deficits. All of this is vital our existence as a superpower. Do you not agree?
