As a family law paralegal I must say you are completely wrong here. The majority of state courts do not care about cheating. The only state that I know of that lets that play a role in equitable distribution is California. The only way a family law court will consider an unequal equitable distribution due to cheating is if the spouse that is cheating is spending marital funds on the paramour. And in most cases, it's not even considered unless it is a great sum of money.

Not necessarily. There is a statute that deals with "Bridge the Gap" alimony. This statute deals with marriages under 10 years.
