All you have to do is look at voting trends over the decades. There was a time that California would elect conservatives. The 60's changed all that, but still it wasn't anything like today. There were still enough sane Californians in the 60's and 70's to make elections close enough. Now there's zero hope for anyone center of left.
There is a direct correlation with the browning of CA (and AZ and other states) and this trend. There is no denying this. And you're not going to convince me that there are enough LEGAL Mexicans to make that kind of difference. CA went from 78% white in 1970 to about 45% white today. Likewise, it went from 11% Hispanic to about 38% Hispanic over the same period. Let's be honest, the vast majority of that Mexican influx was not legal.
