Ecclesiastes 1:9 "...there is nothing new under the sun."
So the catchwords or names of systems will change, but tyranny is the goal. Simple aged old tyranny.
World domination this time not by nation-states or alliances, but by families and individuals, which actually just takes "us" back to monarchy.
Tyranny for physical pleasure, for the major sin of pride, et al. Nero enjoyed watching people be tortured while he ate his dinner. Caligula naming his horse as a senator or whatnot. Reprobate minds.

All this energy, effort, money, etc but these guys only have a few years left. Why bother? Nothing "worth the effort" will happen in their lifetimes.
because they began being controlled by others at a certain point we can only guess at
so they do what they're told everyday, and I imagine there's a bad alternative if they don't
evil usurped by younger and stronger evil
