They were ridiculously cartoonish looking as well.
They were clearly supposed to draw attention to themselves and look like bombs, sort of the exact opposite thing you would do if this was legit.

Were they post marked, or placed in the mail box?
No way anyone that is not USPS puts anything into HRC or GS mailbox without the goon squad coming down hard.
