Proximity is effective.
Yes, it is. Even a crude, early-generation missile system is more than sufficient to bring down aircraft of any type. A defenseless commercial airliner is an especially easy target.
My belief is that it’s even more effective if guidance is highly autonomous and so precise as to significantly lower the risk to military personnel and reduce or eliminate collateral damage. I’m speaking from an American standpoint, though, and probably a very different set of priorities. I doubt Iran’s weapons are that advanced ... but clearly they don’t need to be if one’s primary objective is to be mostly successful at blowing things out of the sky.

NSFW this... there’s body parts in some of the pictures you posted
You’re looking way too hard for something that almost certainly isn’t there. Any obvious remains would be covered by those yellow pieces of tarp. Other than a pristine-looking shoe with nothing identifiably attached to it (could easily have been packed in someone’s luggage) and some vague stains on a wall in the background of one shot, everything visible appears to be either pieces of fuselage, fabric, or plant material.
His pics are fine, and saved me the trouble of searching for them myself.

That was my first thought, but realistically there are any number of anti-aircraft measures that could have been responsible. Doesn’t matter what ammo affects which part of the plane from where, a hit either seriously compromises the integrity of the airframe and disrupts the balance of forces or vice-versa. Different mechanism, but same result.

There usually is.
We had some issues with Patriot’s
Nothing an F-16 and a couple bombs wasn’t able to fix at the spur of the moment.

Proximity brought down KAL007 and the plane in Ukraine.
