quote:
Yes, Mitch wouldn’t back him up on the 2020 election corruption just like Pence. Graham is a war monger but everytime Trump needs a domestic vote he switches sides. Cornyn is part of that same cloth. Paxton is more conservative than Trumo ever had been.
I get it, and you are correct about all of the above but, how is that "Trump shooting himself in the foot?"
I despise all RINO RATs, (RINOs Against Trump), but that's on them, not on Trump.
Trump shouldn't, normally wouldn't, back anyone who voted to impeach him but, politics makes for strange bedfellows..
quote:
Ten House Republicans voted to impeach President Donald Trump following the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot. They were:
Liz Cheney (Wyoming)
Adam Kinzinger (Illinois)
Anthony Gonzalez (Ohio)
John Katko (New York)
Fred Upton (Michigan)
Jaime Herrera Beutler (Washington)
Peter Meijer (Michigan)
Dan Newhouse (Washington)
David Valadao (California)
Tom Rice (South Carolina)
These members broke with their party, citing Trump’s role in inciting the insurrection as a betrayal of his oath of office. The vote marked the most bipartisan presidential impeachment in U.S. history, with all 10 supporting the article of impeachment for "incitement of insurrection."
Those ten are now gone, if I'm not mistaken?
And while I find John Cornyn to be an absolutely, repulsively, despicable RINO ... he's voted with MAGA 98.4% of the time. The big knock on him, among most Republicans, is his vote against the 2A after the Uvalde shooting, and the shooting of the woman by her ex, which was a really bad move on his part, especially in Texas.
quote:
John Cornyn has generally supported Second Amendment rights, but some of his actions have drawn criticism from gun rights advocates.
Support for Gun Rights: Cornyn has received an "A" rating from the NRA and has co-sponsored legislation like the Hearing Protection Act, which aimed to deregulate firearm suppressors. He has also supported measures promoting gun rights, such as opposing bans on high-capacity magazines and backing national concealed carry reciprocity.
Controversial Votes: In 2022, Cornyn faced backlash for voting in favor of the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act (VAWA), which included provisions expanding background checks for gun purchases. Critics argued that these provisions amounted to indirect gun control, despite the bill's primary focus on protecting domestic violence survivors.
While Cornyn maintains a pro-Second Amendment public stance, this vote led some to question his commitment to unrestricted gun rights, particularly among more hardline gun rights supporters.
IMHO when it comes to Cornyn and Paxton, they both have baggage ... it's six of one, half dozen of the other.
Trump might use his endorsement to secure a Vote somewhere where it's needed, and more importantly to defeat this insidiously evil Talarico guy that somebody is going to be running against.
I swear, for those calling Talarico the Mamdani of Texas ... that's an insult to Mamdani. Talarico is a frickin' baby-faced Marxo-Commie twatwaffle. He has to be defeated. He's 1000x worse than Beto.
