Time to normalize relations with Iran

35 years is long enough. They're no angels, but they're no worse than many of our so called friends, and better than some. We should at least be exploring this. Like Nixon to China, maybe it will take a Republican to do this without everybody going apeshit, but it's time.

Nope nope nope.... None of them are to be trusted. We need to back Israel, give them anything they need, and let them impose mass extinction on anyone who feels ballsey enough to frick with them. That whole region has been fighting for thousands of years and in no way are we gonna change it.
The one thing all of the Mid-East, Russian, India, Saudi leaders know and realize what we can't grasp is that genocide is the only thing that works. Why do you think Iraq, lybia, and Egypt where pretty much stable for all of those years? Because there were dictators in control willing to frick anyone up who opposed them.
Let it go and let the Pitbull in Israel off the leash.

So you are calling for the hole war and genocide funded by the us tax payer?
News flash, to Jews us Christians are still gentiles. They can fend for themselves, no need to give them a blank check over and over.

Well I haven't seen many Jews slicing off heads, or flying planes into buildings. Why is it we are the ones who always have to take the high ground and play by the rules?? frick that. It's time to pull out and let them know if they mess with us again all hell will come down on them.
Is it cheaper to fund/support Israel or wage our own battles with them?

It's cheaper to let Israel fund themselves and stay out of their business. For that matter, we should stay out of everyone's business so we can perhaps tend to our own.

Bc we are not in the dark ages.

The dark ages are all they know!!! For frick sake they are still stoning people and cutting off heads. All they know is old school death.

Persians aren't Arabs. Having been exposed to both groups, I can say there are significant differences, and culturally we are more in-tune with the Persians.

Thats why Persians integrate with American culture so well.

I agree with you whole heartedly. I have seen first hand the difference. It is similar to the same reputation all Americans get lumped into. You are either cowboys or gangstas. Heard it first hand while I was working over there.
Honestly the Persian culture, and history is pretty awesome. Once you figure out how to differentiate between them and the hard core factions, you see just how much they have contributed to world history.

Agree.....most Iranians are very westernized and they don't like the conservative types in their own country especially those calling the shots.

Are you sure you aren't confusing Iran with Saudi Arabia?

I don't recall the U.S. ever taking the high ground when it comes to foreign relationships, we don't get even, we get ahead.

Or how about not supporting Israel financially and not fighting our own battles in Iran
eta: agreed with Porky, just stay out of that shithole, and take care of our own problems

Good idea... You're right. Lets leave the only true allie we've had over there out to fiend for themselves. Who do you think we get most of our Intel from about the region? While we're at it lets send more arms and funding to Syria, or lybia?

If Iran would chill out with the whole "death to America" thing, I'd be in favor.
I really would like the US to open up to Cuba.

the U. S. never takes the (moral) high ground? We don't get even we get ahead?
In what country are we "ahead"? Syria? Iran? Iraq? Lybia? Russia? China? North Korea?

We've been trying to sanction Iran into the Dark Ages for 35 years for an incident that didn't involve any loss of life. What did those other countries ever do to the U.S.?
