The wall would be needed because not everyone who sneaks into the US does so to get a job.
Some do it to drop an anchor baby. Others to get on welfare. Still others to take advantage of Emtala and get free medical care. Still others to engage in acts of terrorism.

The wall would not be needed if the illegal immigrants could not draw welfare and food stamps. That's what makes me sick. I know. I see it daily in my job.

It's not meant to stop boats. That's like saying since police can't actually prevent the first murder, why have them.
