This isn't that surprising when you consider that they have a lot of very wealthy people in CA.

Take the top 100 richest people in CA and compare them to a state like LA and the combined wealth of CA's top 100 would be astronomically larger than the combined wealth of LA's top 100.

According to wikipedia (they're citing Forbes as a source) in 2017 CA had 111 billionaires. LA had 1.

They just have a lot more wealth at the top.
