Those kids work hard and more power to them if they achieve success.
Their parents expect alot out of them.
Years ago I competed in a science fair and my project was about breeding hogs.
My grandfather bred hogs on his farm.
He had it down to knowing how many times a female hog could give birth to x amount of babies.
I won a Kodak Camera gift certificate for $1,000 and my school won a Kodak award cash for $1,000, as my picture of the hogs breeding told the story.
Tyson food gave me a $500 gift certificate and $500 to my school for my project related to agriculture.
Funny, I did not give a cr@p about going to regionals.
I got out of school and won $1,500.
Those Indian and Asian parents were mad, as the pictures of their projects did not tell a story like my project of breeding hogs did.
Their parents expect alot out of them.

Those Indian spelling bee champs spend hrs memorizing words/ definitions/spelling out of dictionary's, encyclopedias.

It doesn't hurt their success rate that they REALLY want the bragging rights. I went in another doctor's office one time (dot) and she had awards going back to elementary school, like perfect attendance, etc. Pathetic, IMO. Some are very cool, but the arrogant, insecure, "My children are destined to rule over everyone else" types are obnoxious AF. I enjoyed beating them in school.
