There was a huge study done a few decades back that compared people in America to their cousins in their ancestral countries of origin controlling for social and economic peer groups across the dimension of gun control and homicide rates. For the most part, the differences were insignificant except where people from third world and developing nations were concerned who had lower homicide rates here.
