Actually they aren't razor thin if you nominate someone that appeals to the White Suburban vote. Trump and his candidates have consistently lost that vote and that's the Swing vote in large numbers in key areas you simply can't lose as a Republican and expect to win.
Youngkin, Kemp, Reynolds, and DeSantis all act like a giant magnet for that vote.

Bush won 2 elections. The key is who can win that vote which swings either way. You don't need to be a Neocon cuck. DeSantis sure AF isn't. Ironically folks like that tend to be less focused on policy. They tend to focus on good governance and someone likeable. Maybe a normie guy with a pretty wife and 3 small kids for instance.
