I realize he says he wants to move forward with the confirmation hearings, but I can't find where the slippery bastard says he'll actually vote to confirm. Anybody?

The Democrats see him as an opportunity to short-circuit the vote (by his earlier vote to impeach Trump) and they'll pull a full-court press (as they did with Flake) and I'm concerned the whimp will cave under pressure from the other side.

Well that depends on what is most politically beneficial to him when the vote is called

So does this also apply to Susan Collins? Are you saying Collins may vote to confirm although she's opposed to nominating a replacement now???

Depends on if he intends to run again. If not, then I guess a no vote would be just fine for him. No chance he could win another office in Utah if he votes no.

If It's going to go through, I doubt she and Murkowski stay true to their principles, because they don't have any.

If they flip and decide to vote yes, I wonder if any dems take the leap to try and salvage an election as well?

I did - because they both hemmed and hawed - similar indecisive styles. Practically speaking, does favoring/not favoring filling a vacancy during an election year necessarily tips your hand as to how you'll vote - especially in today's politically charged environment?
