I would take an amnesty program for immigrants that are productive law abiding citizens who are not receiving Federal assistance in exchange for an iron clad immigration policy that is designed to only admit quotas of immigrants who meet projected needs (unskilled, skilled, etc) AND a secure border with instant deportation for anyone that isn’t admitted per these quotas.
Provide a 3 month period to register and be vetted. If you’re caught after that you’re gone and any business employing them is fined into non existence.
I like Rush’s non voting rule too.
The good immigrants would jump at this and the criminals would hide - and then be deported.
